How child's sponsorship is helping to change the future - Nassaka Esther

Nassaka Esther - the sponsored child.

How child's sponsorship is helping to change the future for a child like Esther as well as making the difference to the children around her

This newsletter is dedicated not just the Whisper's friends who donate to our organization on monthly or other regular basis but also to the lovely couple from the UK who decided to sponsor Esther almost three years ago.

I would like to also share this newsletter with those who are thinking of child's sponsorship but who would like to get more information on how it works and how important this life-changing commitment or if you want - a life-changing decision - that you make, means for our children at Whisper.

ESTHER'S LITTLE STORY AND HOW CHILD SPONSORSHIP IS CHANGING LIVES
Esther once was a girl who was dumbed by her father onto her HIV positive uncle and auntie. We met her uncle Silvester in February 2011 when he brought to our home Esther's cousin Rachael, who's mum died after the Cesarean birth.
We found Silvester being a very humble and loving person who despite his weakness and condition tried to develop his own business with making a juice to support his family.

During our work with his family we got to see Esther sitting next to Rachael on the floor and questioned why she wasn't going to school. We didn't know much about her but offered Silvester that he can be taking Esther to our nursery school at the home too, for free. Esther's cousin Rachael was one of the lucky ones who got her sponsor right from the beginning as she was the very first child that we took to the home. Thanks to the sponsorship of Rachael, and other two children that time at the home, we could have afforded to educate Esther too. Esther as well as other children studying at our nursery school (either the resident children or non residents) get a warm breakfast at 7.30am, then 10.30 milk and snacks, at 13:00 they get lunch and at 3pm they get fruits.

One day Esther came to the school very late on her own. It was raining heavily and she came totally wet and without any shoes.
She was freezing and shaking, we wrapped her to the blanket and she just whispered "thank you". That day we realized we need to find out much more about this girl and why this time she was coming to school on her own in this condition. It was raining and she made such an effort to come.. on her own, in cold.

We found out the truth from Silvester who didn't want to pressure us with another child as we already helped him by taking care of her cousin.

Esther was a very very sad and unconfident child at first. She felt every unloved and unwanted.
Silvester tried helping her as much as he could but having his own other 6 children, he could only offer her the minimum care by feeding her with the vegetable from his garden and letting her to sleep on the floor but under the roof.

We accommodated Esther at our home from that rainy day and she got so lucky that a lovely couple offered to sponsor Esther on monthly basis.

Esther's attitude and personality totally changed. She was one of the brightest girls at the school. She never complained about anything. She is very much hard working, always ready to help the mamas and other children with cleaning and organizing the rooms.
Monthly sponsorship for Esther, whilst she was living and studying at our children's home, had helped us to improve her uncles' home. We cemented his flooring in the house (used to be just a mud floor), instead of having one bed, they ended up with 5 beds, new beddings and blankets so one day, the girls will be big enough to return to his family home for their school holidays so they come back to the comfort and safety.

Since January 2014 - currently with the new term, Esther was promoted to Primary  2 class, which we are unable to offer at the home. Her age and recovery also means that she will be re-united with her extended family in the nearest months. Thanks her monthly sponsorship, she is assured that she will be able to study outside of the Whisper home as well as financially supported for any personal and educational needs.

Esther's monthly sponsorship also has helped to other children in the similar situation that Esther came from.
§
Whisper has rehabilitated tens of children for the last five years, and unfortunately 80% of the children Whisper is and was taking care of, do not have their individual sponsor.

Esther's monthly sponsorship has been shared to also offer free education and medication to those who were once neglected, abused or found in deadly condition. Some of those children do still study and live at the Whisper home.

Today Esther's financial needs have increased and we won't be able to share her sponsorship with the rest of the children but we are still able to support her with anything she needs to secure a safe future for her.

§
I am very happy to share with you some of the photos from Esther's life with Whisper.

They are still so many children who are waiting for caring and loving people to make that "life-changing" decision! It only takes couple of minutes in the day to set up monthly child sponsorship!
Check our website www.whisperorphans.org.

We do accept sponsorship outside of the UK, however they need to be set up via PayPal sponsorship platform only. People who do not have a PayPal account STILL CAN set the monthly sponsorship or donate via their Debit/Credit cards.

I will be updating you with other stories of the children being sponsored as well as updating you with the children who are benefiting too.

I would love to say big thank you to Mark & Alpana for helping Esther and I truly hope that one day, they will be able to meet her in person.

Thank you to every rest of you, who have decided to support Whisper with monthly or one off donation because you are the ones who are saving lives and providing the future for the rest of the children - the children who deserve nothing just the best!

With all my heart

Veronika

School reports of the children

living and studying at the Whisper children's home.

Dear all our caring Whisper friends,

I would like to share with you some of the reports of the children who are studying under the roof of ourchildren's home.

The school term has finished to the 25th of April 2014 and the new term is about to start next week.

I would like to thank to those who are currently giving us monthly donations, also to those who are reading and following our stories as your are contributing to the children's further studies outside of the home.

Whisper currently sponsors another 13 children to the school outside of the home. Those children either previously lived at the home, or they are being taken care of by their extended families.

Some of the children below will be soon leaving our home, and new children will be joining us. Whisper will only be able to take care of their further education if we will get enough regular financial support. With every year, and with every growing child, our financial expenditure increases. We won't be able to take care of those promising children without you, your support, your love and your care.

Below are some example of the needed sponsorship amount:

  • Sponsoring one child with food, shelter, medication, studies, clothing, uniforms etc is cca £25 a month.
  • Sponsoring a child to the school outside of the Whisper home is only £10 per month. Child will still receive food and uniform.

For the rest of the younger children that Whisper is currently taking care of at its transitional children's home, please click on the button below.

Please get in touch with me anytime if you have any questions.
Don't forget - when browsing our website, you can message me via the live chat, when you need an urgent or prompt answer. I will be more than happy to assist you!

Yours Veronika

"Hello, My name is Veronika Cejpkova and I am the founder of Whisper.

I would like to personally thank to every single one for coming to the event. I was watching you all 'live' via Skype (Thank you Antonio, Athol and Des helping me with it).  It was a night of the month for me because I was currently hospitalized at the hospital and being a part of the night even that way really put me on high.

Seeing all the faces I know, and for some of you coming to talk to me via the laptop put such a huge smile on my face, which you couldn't see. I wish I could talk more with you but I wasn't alone at the ward and it was about the night time for us. You, my friends, looked so beautiful - especially the girls :-)

Thank you also to the photographer Bruno Kongawoin who was taking photos throughout the night for us. I loved to see your faces full of smiles and enjoyment. We worked so hard for this party and seeing you happy and satisfied meant everything to us!

I also want to thank to Lucy Kozmova for helping to organize the night. It was in superb location, the programs you choose were rich and professional. It was beyond my expectations and so I'd love to also thank to all the participants taking part in the program.

There is another special person I love and his name is Gary Carr. He has been my friend for many  years and never disappointed me at his present. He was between the very first ones who agreed to give us one of his lambada nights to fund-raise for the start of Whisper in 2009. I remember raising £500 towards our £5000 goal. So on this day 25.04 he agreed to become the presenter for our night. You did a great job. There were times you put tears in my eyes as you presented it from the heart.

I also wanna thank my sister Andrea and her partner Ales. My sister visited Uganda in 2012 and after that she composed a song for Whisper which they came to perform all the way from Czech Republic to London.
Thank you my friend Tereza Cejnkova for providing very cheap flight tickets for them and Antonio for the accommodation!!!

Despina and Athol are another good good friends of ours! They were ever supportive right from the start and again put 110% into helping us to make the program a success. As I remember them being an active part of the Maasai photoshoot in 2010, here there was them again. Athol thank you for the video-recording the night. We all cannot wait for the footage. Des, your ever positive energy made me to move right on the hospital bed!! :-)

... and I thank to others. You all volunteered. You all decided to give us your talents and time for free.

The list of my friends I love to say how much I appreciate your support goes on and on and on. :-)
I also love to express my sincere thanks to the people I've never met and I wish I would have met you at the event.

Every single guest and visitor who took their time and money and came that night became very special to me and I hope one time when we meet again and we meet face to face perhaps on another of our special nights dedicated to Whisper."

Yours Veronika
