AID TRIP TO AFRICA 2011

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are well... Thank you for becoming members of Whisper (registered charity England and Wales 1139078) on causes.com.

One of our main points in our business plan stated that we will be transparent to public.

In terms of donating to our own charity, we did not just donate our money (flight tickets, Visa, Accommodation, Food) but also taking unpaid time off work... and spending unpaid time in Africa, getting through lots of stress and sometimes to go without shower and limited amount of food... But this is so much worth of doing for the happiness our charity brings to the children. This is priceless! But we need your help!

We will travel to Nairobi in Kenya.. it is only because the flight tickets were in sales just £355 return... (what a deal).. then we will take the Kampala red bus for $20 on 8-10 hr journey to Kampala.. The journey we have taken 4times already.. it is not anything pleasurable.. the roads are in the worst state I've ever experienced in Africa, full of small and massive holes. So for about 5 hours on one parts of the journey we just ended up jumping.. :-) Then we will go to visit our children that our charity pays the boarding fees for.. we want to see how they are doing, if they have improved their English and other subjects at school. We also want to find out about their father (who is getting blind) and if he contributes to their schooling someway.. We pay about £160 for all of them per term. The next payment is due just now.

We also are going to find out about Sowedi. Apparently he has been forced to leave the baby home as for his age (he is now 4yrs) He should be now looked after in one family.. but all these things we are going to find out..

After that we will take a bus to North Uganda.. a place that is much less greener and much worse than the area of source of Nile and Lake Victoria.. It will be challenging as we aim to stay in the village and in the area that is not designed for tourists what so ever. I feel that more challenging it will be, more successful it makes our work.. we cannot risk any dishonesty and building relationships and business with not genuine people. Every single person who has donated to Whisper is so important to us and so special that we will not part with the money in any easy way... When I heard from other organisations how much they are charged for simple things like goods or services or accommodation, my heart stopped. We paid $15 a week.. other charities pay $60 a night... not in the 4 star hotel (which is normal pricing) but in a guest house.. It could have made their life easier and their work quicker but this is not what we are about. We did not raise hundreds of thousands pounds...

Anybody who would like to support our aid work this February, last chance to order one of the knitted pair of socks... it is

£19.99.www.whisperorphans.org/knitted_socks.html.

If you are not a fan of warm socks, please kindly donate at www.whisperorphans.org/donate.html

If you wish to donate any unwanted Christmas present, again get in touch as we are going to do several car boot sales from around April to August...

We will need more help than ever after we come back...

All about my plans and Whisper, The Worlds Orphanage Fund

Hi everybody!

For those I haven't been in touch for long time I am really sorry, I am just focusing on this project very much. I am now working on this full time and go to work at the weekends and in the evenings. It took us more than long two months to get the name for the organisation and last 3 weeks just to design the logo (although - as you might know - we got a proper, clever and very successful designer to do it for us - volunteer ;-) last two weeks I spent nonstop by the computer trying to design the website and put it all together as I want everybody to take us very seriously (although my exam from Dreamweaver is next Tuesday - I doubt i pass it as it is too much of a headache!!! and I attended just 3 classes) All photographs are from Africa taken by Antonio (www.antoniogenco.co.uk), videos and the rest is something I created by myself. I would appreciate your feedback! Maybe you will see something what looks wrong or something I could improve. However I hope that my website can tell how much we care for these children and how much we care for what we decided to do.

I am also thinking about ideas how to fundraise money. I want you to know that I do not want to use my friends to get as much money as possible from them, In fact I would love if we could all work together! As some of you know I want to get people motivated to donate to us through products, activities and ideas. I mention some idea on our website (www.whisperoprhans.org/how_you_can_help.html) and there will be lots more to come. (Why not to bake some nice chocolate cake and sell it to your colleagues at work to fundraise)

Now, who is fun of Jamie Oliver? If all goes well (and he turns up) I will get his book sign on Monday as I am having a dinner with him... The book I chose is the latest one called "Jamie Does" and it contains all recipes from Spain, Italy, Greece, Maroco. Jamie presents all the recipes in his TV series "Jamie Does" on Channel 4.If you are a big fun of Jamie, or if you know somebody who is his big fun, this is MUST HAVE BOOK! Let's raise something for Whisper! In the end I decided I would get one one!

Our other project that is on my mind: I have started to work on the most beautiful socks! I believe that lots of people know how to knit, but not that many people know how to knit traditional and good quality socks on five needles. Apart from my grandma I am the only one from our family (my granny has 15 grandchildren) who can knit socks. I decided I want to raise money through this too. I want to teach people how to knit socks. I also want to sell my socks to fundraise money for Whisper. I have some ready already, so I hope I get a good feedback from you ;-) Info on our website will be coming soon.

Whisper will be also doing a collection of second hand clothes, dvd, games and whatever what we can sell in carboot sale. All info coming later.

Next Monday 21 June we will have special fundraising posters (in african theme) ready of a girl band called 'Country Sisters' (known mostly in Europe - American Country Music) The band was photographed by Antonio Genco and poster designed by myself. Each poster will cost 10 euro and each purchase of the poster will pay for one child's school fees.

For all the reasons above, I would love to get as many people joining our Facebook page as possible, so everyone can get informed and involved in whatever way... So please take two minutes and suggest the Facebook page to your friends, share it on your wall or let your friends know our website (your friends can become fan through the website).
