Greetings Whisper Family.
The Whisper team hopes you are doing fine
Below is the summarised September report for Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital and Maternity
WHISPER'S HOSPITAL REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 2018
In September we treated a smaller number of patients compared to the month of August. We treated 702 patients in total. 631 patients in the children’s wing and 71 patients in magical maternity. The smaller number of patients received is mainly due to the fact that September is a dry season whereby diseases like malaria are not common because of dried up bushes and stagnant water. These are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and the biggest number of patients we receive are malaria patients. Another reason could be the sensitization we do during our morning meetings with the patients' caretakers. A lot of information is given out by our doctors and it involves prevention of many diseases and conditions for example boiling of drinking water, use of treated mosquito nets, slashing of thick bushes around their places of residence.
The number of transfused patients has slightly increased compared to last month. We had 244 patients transfused in September. Although the number of patients reduced, many lives were saved. We receive quite a big number of anemic patients. Through our good working relationship with Blood Bank Uganda, we are able to receive enough blood for all our patients.
We had 11 malnourished patients in September including 1 patient brought by the outreach team whom we treated for free. Still the biggest number of malnourished children come from deep rural areas in the Eastern region of Uganda where parents cannot afford enough food to feed their children. We thank everyone who has contributed to Whispers as a charity organisation.

ONE OF THE CHILDREN WHISPER RESCUED

Whisper was informed of a dying child from Kawanda village by one of the Whisper friends. Miss Veronika organized the outreach team to go and rescue the dying little boy called Fredrick. He was severely malnourished, his mother was abandoned by the husband. The 34 weeks pregnant mother had no support to take care of Fredrick. Both Fredrick and the mother were brought to Whisper's Magical Hospital for treatment and close monitoring. Little Fredrick was put on nutritional rehabilitation until he was fully recovered. All this was done for free. Thanks to our beloved donors for the saved lives of such vulnerable little children. Sophie suffered 40% burns surface area while she was playing near a fire place as reported by the mother. For the one month and two weeks she has spent at Whisper's Magical Hospital in the burns unit, daily dressing and treatment have been done. Some of the wound surface has healed but she needs to undergo a graft surgery.
Whisper has organised funds to take her for skin grafting at CORSU(Comprehensive Rehabilitation Service In Uganda). We thank all our beloved donors for supporting us to save such suffering children. To donate to our burns unit please follow this link.

WHISPER'S MATERNITY DEPARTMENT.

In September, we received 71 patients in total. 20 scans, 38 antenatal packages, 3 deliveries and 10 patients for consultation. So many mothers are interested in our Magical Maternity. The donations to our Maternity department have enabled us to perform 2 charitable operations. Our major goal is to reduce maternal deaths in Uganda and many lives have been saved. We thank all our beloved donors for the mothers' lives saved.

ONE OF THE MOTHERS HELPED BY WHISPER
Angela came to Whisper's Magical Hospital with her son Fredrick one of the malnourished children rescued by our social workers. She was 34 weeks of gestation. Whisper wanted her to have a free and safe delivery since she could not afford going to a good hospital for delivery. she was abandoned by the husband and did not have any support from the relatives. On reaching the hospital, she had to undergo an emergency cesarean section because on running the tests she had chorioamnionitis with fetal distress. For more information on chorioamnionitishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chorioamnionitis
We are so grateful for all the donations that go to our maternity department. We are able to save so many mothers' lives. to donate to our Maternity please follow this linkhttps://www.globalgiving.org/projects/stop-ugandan-women-and-children-dying-at-childbirth/
