Whisper's Hospital registered 1,372 patients in July

WHISPER'S MAGICAL HOSPITAL
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING WHISPER
We are so grateful to our donors for both the advisory and financial support. This has helped our charity Hospital to operate smoothly and save so many lives in Uganda.
WHISPER'S HOSPITAL REPORT FOR JULY
This has been a very busy month for us as we continue to save so many lives of children and mothers in the Eastern region of Uganda. We managed to register 1,372 patients in our Hospital. This was more compared to the number of patients registered in June which was 1,172 patients. The increase in the number of patients in July also led to an increment in the total amount for drugs and laboratory supplies used. We thank all our donors for supporting us to be able to procure medicine used to treat and save the many lives of children and mothers admitted at Whisper’s Magical Children’s Hospital and Maternity.
We registered 269 patients with malaria, 24 patients were babies below 11 months. 59 patients were diagnosed with severe malaria which led to severe anemia hence more blood transfusions. We transfused 208 patients in July which was slightly less compared to the 275 patients transfused in June. There were some days when we had scarcity of blood but still managed to coordinate with other Hospitals to make sure that our anemic patients were transfused.
FREE CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING
Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital and Maternity organised a free cervical cancer screening campaign at our premises on Madhvani road in Jinja. This was done with an aim of reducing the risk of developing cervical cancer. We worked on 43 women at the beginning of the campaign. This still goes on every Thursday for free. All this is made possible through the support of our donors. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/stop-ugandan-women-and-children-dying-at-childbirth/

MALNOURISHED CHILDREN
In the month of July, nutritional ward received 20 children with malnutrition. Only two patients were mildly malnourished, the rest of the patients were severely malnourished. Four children were referred to start on Anti-TBs. There was one death recorded, the child had severe dehydration and hypoglycemia on arrival and went into shock. The rest of the patients were managed and are now stable. The major cause of malnutrition in July was excess poverty in these families where these children come from. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-a-malnourished-child-with-whispers-hospital/

BURNS PATIENTS
This is Benita an eight year old girl suffering from severe burns caused as a result of her grandmother pouring hot water on her for reasons unknown. She was taken to a certain Hospital where she was not being taken proper care of and her wounds had become septic.
One of our nurses saw the child in a bad state and told the mother to bring the child to Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital where she could be well taken care of.
We have been taking care of Benita for 3 months now for free, giving her free daily meals, breakfast and treatment which involves daily dressing of the wound. Whisper also organised and took her for skin grafting at Surgeon's plaza which costed us 5,500,000/= ($1486). There is now a great improvement in her condition. We thank you so much for keeping our children's Hospital open so that children like Benita can get a chance to be saved. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/keep-our-childrens-hospital-open/

CHILDREN TAKEN FOR HEART SURGERIES
Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital together with Norton Children's Hospital  and Healing The Children, organised two patients (Hafswa and Logose) for a life saving heart surgery at Norton Children's Hospital.
Logose's heart surgery went successful but unfortunately Hafswa could not make it for the surgery as her condition worsened while in the trial anesthesia. Whisper has been helping so many of the cardiac patients since way back by conducting free heart surgeries for them at Mulago Hospital with everything paid for by Whisper. Today Whisper has a good working relationship with Healing The Children organisation whereby some of the cardiac children are taken to Norton Children's Hospital in the USA for life saving operations. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/keep-our-childrens-hospital-open/

Whisper's Hospital report for June

WHISPER'S MAGICAL HOSPITAL
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING WHISPER'S MAGICAL HOSPITAL.
We thank all our beloved friends and donors for continuously supporting us to save the many lives of Ugandan children and adults. Through your generous support we saved over one thousand patients in June.
WHISPER'S HOSPITAL REPORT FOR JUNE 2019
This time round Whisper’s Magical Children’s Hospital registered 199 patients more in June compared to the number of patients received in May. In the month of June Whisper registered 1,172 patients including the 98 women registered in our Magical Maternity. This led to an increment in the total amount of money for drugs used during several purchases. Artesunate cost the most amount of money of all drugs purchased last month. This is because we received more patients with Malaria in June totaling to 275 patients compared to 201 of those received in May.
We received more anemic patients in June compared to those in May. 265 patients were transfused. This can be backed up by the increased number of Malaria patients. In this month we didn’t have much scarcity for blood. We managed to transfuse almost every anemic patient who entered our Hospital. We also registered 27 children managed for Sickle cell disease.

FREE CANCER SCREENING AND PREGNANCY SCANS
Whisper's Magical Hospital organised a free cancer screening and pregnancy ultrasound scan for women both at the Hospital and through outreach in Bugobi village located in Iganga district.
This was performed by our Gynecologist from America with 25 years of professional experience. 65 pregnancy scans were done and 38 cervical cancer screening. Fortunately non of the women screened for cancer turned out positive. This was a good opportunity offered to the women and they appreciated the free services rendered onto them. Whisper extends the health services to different communities especially to the people who cannot afford them. BABY SHANITAH'S RECOVERY
This is one of the malnourished children rehabilitated in June.
Baby Shanitah was managed for Severe Acute Malnutrition and put on nutritional rehabilitation for a period of three weeks. Within this period, there was a great improvement in the child's condition. She was taken care of very well by our nutritionist.
Our little girl was later discharged after her recovery and she is now home with her parents. We thank all the people who are donating to our malnutrition project, you are helping to save so many lives of such children's. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-a-malnourished-child-with-whispers-hospital/

ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANING
Whisper's Magical Hospital organised a community cleaning day on 15/07/2019. This involved emptying of dustbins and picking of rubbish which was littered in the streets of Jinja. We lead as an example hoping for the people in the community to follow our path and stop littering polythene bags and empty water bottles on the roadside.
This was done by our staff team with the aim of promoting cleanliness in the community to reduce on the risks of getting germs from the rubbish which may cause diseases.

MALNOURISHED CHILDREN
We admitted twelve malnourished children. Most of the cases received were for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). Only two were mildly malnourished. Unlike other months, children that were brought in June were brought by their biological parents. A few of them were brought by their grandparents. All these children healed steadily and were discharged. The major cause of malnutrition in June was poverty (extreme) in families. We hope to save more of the malnourished children through outreach. With your support we will have the means to reach different areas where these children are suffering from with even treatment. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-a-malnourished-child-with-whispers-hospital/
